# What can the sources tell me?

Choose a source that deals with your own question. A licence record and a medicine review do different jobs.

## A board record answers a licence question

Arizona’s Medical Board checks doctors with MD after their names. A separate board checks doctors with DO after their names. These are both types of doctor who provide medical care. Nurses have their own board. Physician assistants, or PAs, are licensed medical workers with another board.

Ask the relevant board what care the person’s licence allows.

A record can help you match the person to the profession. It cannot decide whether a proposed treatment fits your needs.

Arizona limits which board records appear online; further public records may be requested, as of October 6, 2026.

The website may show penalties, meaning official action the board took against a person’s licence. Finding none online does not prove there were no past penalties or complaints.

Ask the board how to request any extra records it can release to the public.

## A product review answers a medicine question

FDA is the short name for Food and Drug Administration, the agency handling US medicine approval.

Making or changing a medicine to fit a patient’s particular needs is called compounding.

FDA review of an approved product does not extend to a compounded version, as of September 26, 2026.

A study of an approved medicine does not prove a custom version produces the same result.

When someone cites a study, ask which exact product was tested and who took part.

## What does a medicine problem report establish?

The FDA collects reports of unwanted experiences with medicines.

Those reports do not establish cause and cannot tell you the chance of a problem happening.

Ask the person giving medical care what is known about the particular product being proposed.

The published drug-maker price, a cash offer and what you pay using insurance can differ.
